Realdoll Convention 2 Report

 By Mike Kelly

I’m proud to say that I was at the Abyss factory for their second Realdoll Convention. I must also admit...I was in awe at Matt's artistry. God created man, and Matt created Realdoll. The new body 6 (also known as the Realdoll 2) was breathtaking...and yes, seamless at the ankles and wrists.

This body seemed to be truly alive….to breathe with life. The fingers did not sport the wires that the others had, but had armatures instead allowing true finger-like movement. The Rdol club on Yahoo has pictures, but they do not do justice to this body’s beauty.

This body seemed to the answer to a perplexing problem: beauty or durability. This body would not only be more durable, but much better looking too.

Matt also had a new head cast just for this body that was also breathtakingly real looking.

In addition to the new body, another doll showed off mechanical thrusting hips that allowed her to move back and forth like a real woman. She also had tan marks, freckles and hair that was implanted…not a wig like the other dolls.

There was also a body 5 that had sensors attached so that she was able to moan when touched. The voice she used was generated from the Realdoll CD.

The male Realdoll was also there, looking like the typical rooster guarding a henhouse. He was larger than I thought he would be, but amazingly light.

For many in attendance, they had known each other by their dolls, and the convention gave the people behind the dolls a chance to meet and socialize.

For many like myself, it was also chance to meet Matt, the artist behind the dolls. He is a perfect example of the California surfer, long flowing blonde hair and a backwards baseball cap. When he’s not working on dolls, he can be found playing with his heavy metal band, which were also playing that night.

Because of Matt’s pioneering work, the Android industry has begun, it will be interesting to see where it’s at 20 years from now, because all great industries have humble beginnings….the airplane, the computer and now the Realdoll…..the first artificial human.
