Sex For Sale - Some Perspectives.

Body:

A guy did a survey in a City Mall. He had a selection of photos of men and, showing a photo of one of them to women passing by, asked "Would you Date or Go Out with this guy". Before deciding they were allowed to ask a question. By far and above the most frequent question asked was "How wealthy is he?" (or an equivalent). Fair enough wouldn't you say? After all, what they potentially have to offer is a much sought after commodity.

On another side & cutting to the chase, Politicians, Executives, Management at least down to 'middle' and the catch all 'Business Men' do so enjoy the celebrations of finalising some Contract or 'Deal' or even to 'sway the deal their way' with a bit of expensive pussy. And then there is the rest of us, from 'Pillars of Society' to 'Curb Crawlers' (not mutually exclusive), keeping the ladies busy and their purses (or their pimps' wallets) filled. With Studies indicating well over half of married / partnered men partake of paid delights - and it ain't cheap  - one can but wonder what their wives or partners think about it? Surely they know ..... don't they?

Prostitutes and their profession are so ostracised by a Society which commonly use their services. And why all the fuss in the media and tabloids when such a globally common event is revealed? Which, by the way, gives way too much power to the media moguls, through their unspoken threat of a scandal and ruination should one be found out, but I mean, WTF, we all know it's happening. After all, Bill Clinton got his highest public opinion ratings after Monica L blew him off.

While some may choose a life of 'selling their wares' with success, and good on em, the vast majority end up doing so through circumstances beyond their control and not necessarily to their liking. Even a raging nymphomaniac would have trouble servicing 20 to 30 men a day, over an extended time frame, as is common in sex trafficed girls around the world. Just remember folks, everyone of those girls is human and everyone of those men go home after.  In Italy at least one prostitute is murdered every month - sometimes just to keep the others in line. See http://www.prostitutionresearch.com/Prostitution%20Quick%20Facts%2012-21-12.pdf

Being illegal in half the countries of the World and barely legal in the rest I guess all the 'Customers', 'Johns', 'Punters' and 'Tricks' prefer to scapegoat the Women and cry "Shock, Horror" in the tabloids when some hanky panky surfaces to the light rather than admit "Yep, that's us".

This strange human hypocrisy has led to a proliferation and mishmash of all sorts of odd legalities around the world. see http://prostitution.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000772 . Some include: In Scandinavia & Iceland selling sexual services is legal, paying for sexual services is illegal. In Egypt prostitution is illegal but the customer is immune from prosecution, being a 'witness' to the illegal act. In the UK, while prostitution is legal, Brothel ownership is illegal despite there being thousands of them around. In the Philippines - where there are at least three quarters of a million prostitutes - it's all illegal - but 'Bar girls' must register and have health checks. In Germany, where it's all legal, 1.2 million customers are estimated to use the services of about 400,000 prostitutes daily - that is 438 million tricks annually for a country with a population (men, women and children) of 82 million.

Food for thought.

By the way I am going into hospital later this month and may be away for a while. Hope to be back eventually (?), but if I miss a month or two, you can always refresh on some of the older blogs, randomly, or such as /drupal/node/1275 ('The oldest Profession') which is closely related to this months blog.

Nothing breeds hypocrisy like the topic of prostitution. It's like a lot of things, if it were legal there would be far fewer problems, and the government would be able to tax it like crazy, just as they do everything else that they say is bad for you, ie alcohol, cigarettes etc.  Everybody wins.

Send you an e-mail later Muz.

Well this is really interesting. Although selling sex for money is as old as time in memorial I can see some very interesting and reviling question which women asked. :jawdrop: .

Really great read :) .

Yes indeed. A very interesting read!

Yes, prostitution is legal in Germany, but the law makers are working on it. They are going to outlaw so-called gang bang parties and flat-rate sex in brothels soon and will ask prostitutes to register at the town hall. There is still discussion about making it illegal to have sex with a prostitute as in scandinavia. Times change and there´s a conservative backlash in prostitution here. A great read, all the best, we keep our fingers crossed for a speady recovery, Chris & the ladies

Over here, Netherlands, it's legal but there are rules.

To me, basically it's okay. The problem with prostitution is that a lot of it is not voluntary, but forced, human trafficking

Wishing you all the best!

Once - a really long time ago -  I watched a 'docu-film' about eskimos. There at some point a male eskimo was asked how he felt about lending his wife to his friends. For this was custom in their community. Then the man replied with the memorable words:

"if I lend my sledge for a ride, I will get it back broken.
If I lend my dogs for pulling a sledge, I will get them back tired,
But if I lend my wife for a fuck I will get her back even more cheerfull and happy than she was before!"
