Nikki and the Cows

Nikki is a lot like Dee. They both have sweet kind hearted personalities and are always very polite. At home when it is just our family together, Nikki is just as loud as the other girls, especially if she has had a few Vodka Red Bulls, then it's anything goes, but if we have visitors or are out in Mitsy she becomes quite shy.

Even on TDF it took us about a year to get her to post much on her own. Sure she had written a couple of these blogs for me, but she would ask MaDee or myself to post them for her.

Last month we showed you the spot we found for lunch. When the bird showed interest in what we were doing, Nikki was very excited but a little unsure of him getting too close, which is probably why she first sceamed then kept giggling when he came near.

So to this month's story. After the lunch we had in last month's blog, we travelled on to a spot where I knew we would get a nice view down the valley.

Having driven for many kilometres in the forest, to have the view suddenly open up to be able to see all the way to the coast made Nikki gasp

"Wow!"

It made my day to see Nikki's face light up to look at the view.

I had got out of the car to take a few photos and Nikki opened her door to get out as well. She sat looking at the cows standing in the paddock quietly munching on the grass.

I thought she was just interested watching the cows until she asked

"How high can cows jump?"

can cows jump

I didn't really understand why she was asking that question until she followed it up with

"That's not a very high fence, you don't think they can jump over it, do you?"

not a big fence

I told her that it looked like a normal size electric fence and I didn't think cows were known for jumping over fences or the farmer would build them higher.

its an electric fence

I also said the cows were more interested in their grass than us. She seemed to believe me, but to be sure, when she finally got out she ran round to the other side of Mitsy so she could get in the driver's side if she thought one was going to jump the fence.

She was able to worry less about the cows and enjoy the view when she pointed out that they had started to move further down the hill away from us.

I had no idea that she felt that way about cows or I would have told her about them before we got there. I certainly wasn't going to point out that there were also cows in the paddock behind her.

no cows behind you

Thanks for lookin in. Check in the next issue for the last part of Nikki's day in Mitsy, but with no cows.
