Mishka's Studio -Photographing in Natural Light part II

Body:

Last month, I mentioned the desire to always use natural light when possible, and reduce the dependence on artificial lighting. This month, I plan to continue working both indoors and outdoors, and to use a naturally well lit room that has produced nice images in the past. Again, I used my Nikon D750 and the Samsung S8 - as I like to compare the two, and the S8 is very easy to get candid shots quickly. The lens I use is the the Tamron 15-30 and a 28-75 as well. Both are great and offer versatile shots. The former is very expensive, quite heavy and with heavy dolls, it makes for a tiring day.

Below, are some pictures I took a few days ago. I used a head from SM doll and donor body from D4E. I consider this combo quite good, and a great color match. The lighting was a simple 2 point umbrella, small flash and a large window provided the natural light. Since the room is painted white, it reflects well and the subject was easy to photo.  Again, I used a F2.8-3.5 when possible to get as much light in and get steady shots, and using either lens worked well.

One thing that is very hard to do is get the model to have a natural look in the leg/torso pose. Since she weighs 95-100lb, it's very hard on the back and when a leg gives, she will fall fast, and you always need to have a eye on her just in case. With lighter dolls, you can get away with fancy poses with legs and they will mostly stay balanced and not fall over. Also, my favorite 146cm is super light and makes easy effort in posing her. I will show her pics next time.

So, enjoy the pics from this photo set.
