Meet Leah

The photos were taken at the UK/European Doll Meet in September 2019.

It is a great honour to be asked to do a feature for Coverdoll. When I was first approached I knew that I would get my best photos from the European Doll Meet, as it is a wonderful opportunity to shoot my dolls in a beautiful location, including outside photos that I cannot do at home. What I hadn't realized how frustrating it was to see other people's photos posted and discussed while having to wait before I could share my own.

My model Leah is a WM 163C in light tan with a #188 head. She came to England via The Doll House in May 2018. She shares her body with 2 other heads but there is no question that she is my favourite. I think the 163C is an underrated model, she has a beautiful shape, and clothes fit her so easily. She lives with me and her sister Kara who is a WM 140D also with the #188 head.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS 6D camera with either a 24-105 F4 L lens or an 85mm F1.8. The editing is minimal, and was done in Darktable 2.6.

I would like to thank several of the meet attendees for their suggestions and assistance - Psion Satori, The-Doll-House, Fenrisulfr, Samurai for organising the car wash, and Mondoon who allowed his ladies to appear in the background of one of the shots.

Note from the Editor: Each month we will feature a different photographer's work. We invite doll owners and manufacturers alike to participate in this new monthly feature. Photo shoots must meet a minimum quality level. If you do not meet that level we are happy to work with you, critique your photos and help you to raise the bar on your photography. Good photo shoots can be had with low cost digital cameras. It is all in the technique.
